Winter Training Trips

We currently have a few training trips schedule at the Moss Farms Aquatics Center in Moultrie, Ga. Our JO and Future Champions Tier 2 Divers must make a great effort to attend as many training trips as possible leading up to the USA Diving Regional Championships in April.

For those of you who have not had the pleasure of joining us in the past for our Moultrie Training Trips, Moss Farms has an indoor dryland facility with two dryboards, a dryboard into a foam pit, three trampolines, and TiVo’s and spotting rigs over most of the equipment. The pool has four one meters - one with an over the water spotting rig, four three meters – one with bubbles, and a full tower set (1, 3, 5, 7, & 10M platform). Rental also includes having the Moss Farms coaches, Chris Heaton and Jon Fox, on the pool deck with us!

Spots will be limited for our training trips! As soon as the registration links are posted to the website make sure to sign up and save your spot. Once the spots are full the registration will close. No exceptions. Practices will run from 9am-4pm with an hour-long lunch break from 12-1pm. Practices will include dryland time to warm up but the majority of our training time will be spent in the water.

2nd Annual Team Fundraiser Saturday, February 11th

In 2014 we held our first Dive-A-Thon and raised over $8,000 which was used to purchase some of the equipment in the dryland facility! Last year we were unable to hold another Dive-A-Thon due to our crazy schedule but this year we will be holding our 2nd Annual Team Fundraiser. This year we are going to hold a Flip-A-Thon and utilized our dryland facility instead of holding the fundraiser at the pool.

For those of you who have not participated in a “A-Thon” before, to raise money, divers will ask Family, Friends, Drs., etc. for pledges! Friends and Family can offer a set amount per flip completed over the course of the 2 hour event. For example, someone who pledges $.25/flip and the diver completes 100 flips, the total pledge will be $25. Friends and Family can also offer just a flat pledge of any amount of money.

Divers will spend the three weeks before the Flip-A-Thon getting pledges from Family and Friends. They will receive their pledge packet which will include a pledge sheet, a letter to present to the pledgees about what we are trying to accomplish, invitations for the pledgees to attend the event, and tips and tricks on how to raise more money. The day of the Flip-A-Thon, everyone is welcome to join us at the gym for the main event! We will have food and drinks and those who have pledged money will be able to see their diver complete their flips.

We may also have raffle prizes, a 50/50 raffle, and a silent auction! We are hopeful to raise enough money to make some upgrades to our gym equipment as well as purchase the pit mat we are so close to being able to buy. If you have any questions about our fundraiser, please feel free to contact me!

New Coaches and Staff

We are so excited to have Savannah Brown (a member of our JO Team) and Lexi Morris join us officially as our Learn to Dive Team Coaches! Savannah and Lexi have been working very hard over the last month to learn all they can about coaching our little ones and the newest members of the team. We have heard nothing but positive comments about both ladies and are very excited to have them join Nathan and I in building the sport of diving in Jacksonville. Welcome Ladies!

I would also like to welcome our new Sports Admin Intern from UNF, Angel Morrison. Angel is a member of the UNF Swim Team and majoring in Sports Administration. She is in her final semester of school and is here to help us out with all of our upcoming meets, projects, fundraisers, and team needs. Angel will also be taking care of a lot of the administrative work for the team so that Nathan and I can continue to focus on coaching and building the team. Welcome Angel! To contact Angel email her at Admin@AtlanticCoastDivingJax.com.
