Nathan started his diving career in San Antonio, TX in 1997 at the age of 10. He dove for Alamo Area Aquatics Diving under the tutelage of Tommy Law and Stan Randall. Growing up, he was a two sport athlete competing in both diving and football. He was a quarterback and defensive end in middle school and through his freshman year of high school as well as competing for the J.O. team. During his freshman year, he started to excel at diving, learning higher degree of difficulty dives as well as qualifying for National events. During his freshman year of high school diving he missed qualifying for the Texas 5A State meet by 5 points, and he decided to focus his all of his attention on one sport, diving. During his time in San Antonio he was named San Antonio High School’s Male Diver of the Year three years in a row, Business Careers High School Male Athlete of the Year three years in a row, an all American,

 

Through high school, Nathan qualified for State his sophomore, junior, and senior year which his best finish coming his junior year taking second, missing first by 7 points. Also during that time, Nathan was excelling in USD sanctioned meets and qualifying for Nationals multiple times under the direction of former Olympic Coach Charlie Casuto. Under Charlie’s tutelage, he started competing high degree of difficulty dives that eventually landed him a college scholarship to Louisiana State University.

 

While at Louisiana State University, Nathan excelled in all three events qualifying for finals in the 1m and platform events his freshman year at the Southeastern Conference Championships. He was also named SEC Freshman Male Diver of the Year that same year. Nathan had a successful collegiate career that ended after his junior year when he stepped away from competitive diving after sustaining a leg injury.

 

Nathan went on to continue diving professionally, diving for shows at SeaWorld San Antonio, then moving to Orlando in 2011. He finished diving in 2013 and is now a Healthcare Information Technology Recruiter in Jacksonville, FL. He got married in 2014 to his wife Abby, and has two dogs, Stoli and Brody. During his free time he enjoys working on his computer and doing home improvement projects.
