Qualification Meet Information

USA Diving Regionals, Zones, and Nationals

Schedule for 2015 AT&T USA Diving National Championships now available

The schedule is now set for the AT&T USA Diving National Championships, which will be held August 1-13 in Orlando, Florida.

Competition begins with preliminaries in the junior events running August 1-4. After a day off for practice, juniors will compete in semifinals and finals from August 6-9. Following another practice day on August 10, the open events will take place August 11-13.

With a number of changes taking place with the competitive calendar this year, here’s a quick overview of how divers will qualify for nationals.

April 23-26 or May 1-3
Junior Region Championships
There are now 12 regions, up from 10 previously. Also, there is only one set of Region Championships this year, rather than one in spring and one in summer. The top 15 divers on each event plus any divers who meet the qualifying score will advance to zones. Divers can attend the region of their choice, but if they advance, they must compete at the corresponding zone.

Weeks of June 9, 15 and 22
Zone Championships

There are now six zones, up from 5 last year. Zone Championships have been combined this year, so junior divers who wish to try to qualify for both junior and open events at the AT&T USA Diving National Championships no longer need to travel to two separate zone meets.

- The top three finishers in each junior event will advance to the semifinals of the corresponding event for the AT&T USA Diving National Championships.

- Junior divers who finish fourth through 10\P on springboard events or fourth through eighth on platform events shall qualify for the preliminaries of the corresponding event at nationals.

- Additionally, the top three Group A divers and the top two Group B divers on each event shall qualify to the finals of the corresponding ‘open’ event at zones, provided they meet the eligibility criteria.

- The top five finishers in each open event shall qualify to the preliminaries in that corresponding event.

August 1-13
AT&T USA Diving National Championships

- The top 12 divers from the preliminaries in the junior events will advance to the semifinals (where they will be joined by the top three finishers from each of the Zone Championships).

- The top 12 finishers from the semifinals of the junior events will advance to the finals.

- The winner of each event in the Group A and Group B categories shall also qualify for the finals of the corresponding event in the open category, provided they meet the eligibility criteria.

- There are no changes to the qualifying procedures for the open events, except for the Group A and B winners earning a spot in the finals.

This series is extremely competitive and most divers compete at the Regional and Zone level many times before qualifying for the National meet. I encourage all divers with the JO level dive list to begin competing at these events as early as possible to gain valuable competition experience as well as knowledge of how US Diving works. I hope every member of our team who is eligible to compete will join us this summer!

AAU Nationals

The AAU National Championship meet is perfect for those divers who do not qualify for the US Diving Championship Series or is unable to compete in the Regional or Zone championships. To qualify for this National meet, divers with JO level dive lists are required to score above a minimum score based on their age group.
